From February 25th to 27th, the 8th International Conference on the Application of Structural Fire Engineering (ASFE’24), organized by GXU, convened at the Yulin Hall. Professor Yongchang Wang, Chair of the Conference, Chang jiang Scholar and Distinguished Professor at the University of Manchester&Guangxi University, delivered the opening address. Professor Xiao Jianzhuang, Executive Committee Member of GXU’s Party Committee and Vice President, also addressed the audience as the Co-Chair.
Following the opening ceremony, Professor Tan Kang Hai from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Professor Xiao Jianzhuang, Director Bin Zhao from the French Metal Construction Industry Technology Center, and Professor Yongchang Wang each presented keynote speeches.
The conference featured three parallel sessions and six forums, where experts discussed and exchanged ideas on topics such as “New Methods for Fire Characteristics and Simulation,” “Fire-resistant Materials,” “Performance of Steel Structures under (post) Fire Conditions,” “Performance of Concrete Structures under (post) Fire Conditions,” “Performance of Timber Structures under (post) Fire Conditions,” and “Performance of Composite Structures under (post) Fire Conditions.”
During the conference, participating experts also had the opportunity to tour GXU’s Agricultural Science New City Engineering, where they explored the full-scale structural impact testing system, the multi-condition mechanical experiment system for civil engineering materials, and the large-scale structural testing research platform.
