Founded in April 2011, the School of Physical Education at Guangxi University was established through the merger of the Department of Physical Education Teaching of Guangxi University and the Office of Physical Education Teaching and Research of Guangxi Agricultural University. This consolidation aimed to enhance the teaching of public physical education courses, manage high-level sports teams, and promote campus-wide sports activities. The School introduced the undergraduate major in Sports Training and offers Master's programs in Public Sports Management and Sports.

Faculty and Students

Currently, the school has 290 undergraduate students and 59 graduate students, supported by a faculty of 52 full-time teachers, including 3 professors and 17 associate professors. Among the faculty, 7 hold doctoral degrees, while 2 currently pursuing their PhDs.

Vision and Mission

The school is dedicated to enhancing teaching quality and its assurance system, aiming to develop physical education with distinct characteristics. Embracing the vision of "constructing projects, creating characteristics, and building brands," the School emphasizes effective teaching, persistent practice, and regular competition. Ideological and political education permeates public physical education classes, complementing a teaching model that integrates health knowledge with basic and specialized sports skills.

Achievements

In recent years, the school's high-level sports teams have achieved remarkable success, securing 25 national championships, 12 runners-up, and 15 third-place finishes in national competitions. The aerobics team has represented China multiple times at the World Cheerleading Championships and clinched the elite team championship at the 2018 World University Cheerleading Championships. Notably, undergraduate student Lan Xingyu, majoring in Sports Training, captured two championships in rings events at the 50th World Gymnastics Championships in 2021 and the Asian Gymnastics Championships in 2022.

Recognition and Future Goals

Aligned with the principle of "put health first," the school has earned accolades such as "Excellent Colleges and Universities Implementing the Regulations on School Physical Education Work" and the "National Promotion Award of Mass Aerobics Exercise." Recognized as a National Mass Sports Exemplary Organization, the School continues to build on its achievements. Moving forward, the School of Physical Education at Guangxi University is committed to establishing robust research platforms, enhancing talent development, and striving for excellence as a leading comprehensive research institution in China.
